![]() Selkirk Rex Breed Club InformationThe Selkirk Rex Breed Club began in the summer of 1993 after Donna Bass got her first Selkirks and became involved in the effort to bring the Selkirks into Championship status in CFA. As part of the process to advance the Selkirk Rex to Championship status in CFA, a breed club was recommended. This club was the result. The first ten members of the club were drawn from the original group of breeders that Jeri Newman enlisted in her efforts to get the Selkirk Rex registered by CFA, the first step towards Championship. This small core membership grew over the next five years to total more than 50 members located in all CFA regions in the Continental US and Canada. From isolated small towns in the backwoods of Canada to the largest metropolitan areas in California, the clubs' members are a diverse group of individuals working towards Championship status in CFA. As part of the club's responsibilities, a newsletter was published to enable communication among the members. The name of the newsletter became "Woolgathering" and that name has caught the fancy of many non-members. Currently, membership is $25 per year per person. Membership fee includes the quarterly newsletter, "Woolgathering". The newsletter provides grooming tips, showing tips, health tips and other informtion of interest to Selkirk Rex breeders, exhibitors and friends. It is on-line and members are notified when the issue has been posted to the website. When you join, you are offered the opportunity to join the Selkirk Rex email group and join in discussions among the members about issues that may need discussion or clarification. Part of the membership fee pays for expenses for any Selkirk Rex that needs to be rescued out of a dangerous or unhealthy situation. Our club is pleased to support the Selkirk Rex Breed Rescue, led by Cynthia Stryker. Soon to come for members is a DVD showing how to evaluate a Selkirk Rex, how to groom a Selkirk and what to look for when breeding. This will be free for members of the club. To become a member, fill out the form below with your name, address, email address (if any), fax number, phone number and if you are a breeder, exhibitor, pet owner or just an interested human. You will be contacted with information on joining the club, and our yahoo group. To communicate with the club secretary, contact Donna Bass at woolibaar@selkirkrexcats.org. Any comments you might have will be gratefully acknowledged. | |||||
